For the last 2 years, I have resolved to not make any New Year's Resolutions. The statistics show just 8% of resolutions are actually achieved. I was never among the 8%, just so you know.
Here's how 2014 shaped up without any resolutions: Lost 40 pounds and my cleaning business doubled.
2015: Lost 5 more pounds, my clients continued to rise, I started being intentional about what I listen to, watch and read, God started speaking to me about being in ministry and I joined a Women's Ministry Launch Team.
2016: Bring it.
Resolutions are not necessary, goals are. Set goals and you are much more likely to achieve them.
The following are my goals for 2016;
1. Write EVERYTHING down.
Appointments, thoughts, work, budget, kids activities, EVERYTHING. I actually started this earlier this month. I bought a full sized planner that has a full column for each day. I numbered each line from 6am to 9pm so I can schedule everything I have to keep up with. I even dug out 6 different colored highlighters so I know what falls into which category! So far, it is working out beautifully.
2. Start a reading list.
It all started with Spirit Driven Success by Dani Johnson. I bought it on 2007 and put it on my shelf. I pulled it off my shelf in December of 2014 to read it. Not smart on my part, but I truly was not ready to understand what was in that book. It made the cut again this year.
1. The Purpose Driven Life, Rick Warren
2. Spirit Driven Success, Dani Johnson
3. The Power Of A Praying Wife, Stormie Omartain
4. How Successful People Think (book and workbook), John Maxwell
5. Strengths Finder 2.0, Tom Rath
6. Believing Jesus, Lisa Harper
7. Live Love Lead, Brian Houston
3. Send handwritten Thank You note and cards.
Nothing says, "Thinking of you", quite like a handwritten note or card. I've already started filling in birthdays in my planner and filled in "send card to.." a week before!
4. Save money.
This one has been difficult for me. For 5 years, I lived on approximately $1,000 a month. This year my income increased, but I also had to purchase a vehicle to the tune of $450 a month (It's high because I want to pay it off quickly!). Since money rolls into my business on a daily basis, I will be putting 10% in savings each time I make a deposit.
5. Live life intentionally.
"Intentional" is my word for 2016. Everything I say and do will be intentional. Relationships with friends, family, clients, etc., all intentional. Places I go, intentional. Articles I write, intentional. Foods I eat, intentional.
6. Shop/Prepare for major holidays in advance.
Each year, I set out with good intentions and fail miserably, because I fail to plan wisely. This year, it's in my planner.. starting in September.
7. Continue spiritual growth.
God has taken this messy mess and made it less messy than before. I'm going to continue to let Him break me and put me back together as many times as He thinks is necessary.
8. Hit the gym.
Like, for real. I've lost a good bit of weight, but jiggly arms and thighs are not cute in any language!
9. Work on my platform.
I feel like I am supposed to be doing things on a much bigger scale than I have been. Even if it's not this year, I will still spend this year preparing for it. Wrapping my head around the idea of teaching from a stage and honing my writing skills are at the top of the list in this category.
That's all I have so far. I'm sure my list will grow. It usually does. I'm looking forward to my best year ever and wish you the best year ever as well! Remember, It's about progress, not perfection!
